Atom Re-balancing
This weekend saw the last games of the pre-season prior to the process of re-balancing.

Every season It is the aim of the WGHA to ice competitive teams in each division.

The preseason helps to provide an indication of how well teams meet that goal. Recognizing that team creation is virtually complete 2 weeks before players take to the ice, complicating factors such as late or last minute registrations, player transfers from other organizations and brand new players make this process a very inexact science. Players that have participated in summer hockey or have been enrolled in skills development over the off-season also throw a wrench into the player ratings from the previous year.

While it is understood that at the end of the year, one team will receive the championship trophy, the desire is to create teams such that all have a realistic potential to compete for it. To that end, re-balancing may be necessary in various degrees to try and meet this intent. This weekend saw the last preseason games prior to re-balancing.

The coaches and division convenor are currently discussing options for the teams. Should a move be deemed in the best interest of the division, your daughters new coach will contact you/her no later than October 20th so that she may have a practice and game with her new team before picture day the following weekend. While it is appreciated that this may be an initial shock to you and/or your daughter, the experience will likely be a distant memory by season’s end. On the positive side, she will have the opportunity to make friends on 2 teams instead of one!
