Whitby Bantam AA travels to Cornell University
Whitby Bantam AA travelled to Cornell University in Ithaca New York, for school visit and school tour.  The bantams also played three exhibition games at the Ivy league school.

The team boarded the bus on Friday January 6th at 8am, in Whitby for three exhibition games and a school visit.  After a 6 hour trip through the finger lakes region and the unpredictable January winter weather, the team arrived in time to watch the NCAA D1 Cornel Big red play Providence Friars in Ithaca at the 132 year old Ivy league school.  The Bantams were hosted by Cornell and watched Cornell end up on the wrong side of a 2-1 game to Providence.

Saturday morning, Whitby played the first game against Pittsburg U14AA, who had already played on the friday. Pittsburg got up 2 goals, before Whitby got the rust off and scored two goals to even it up.  Jordan Dean finished with two goals, with assists to Kristin Marshall and Peyton Vanvolsen in the 2-2 tie.

Saturday afternoon, after the visiting the Big Red Souvenir shop, the girls attended the 2nd game of the Cornell/Providence games and witnessed the home team, storm back from the Friday night defeat with a 5-1 win.

After a long 8 hour break and a brief shopping trip, Whitby returned to action on Saturday evening against Syracuse Valley Eagles.  Whitby played to a 3-2 win.   Two goals from Emily Smythe and a single from Sophie Malefant, also contributing to the offence with assists to Jordan Dean, Kristin Marshall and Sarah Roy.

Sunday was a busy day, starting with a school tour.  The Cornell women's team walked the girls around campus, shared stories about the hockey experience and the "Rich" tradition at Cornel University.

The girls then finished their weekend with the third exhibition game against another local Syracuse Bantam AA girls team and came out with a 3-1 win.  Scorers were Sarah Roy, Jordan Dean and Emily Smythe.  Kristen Marshall also collected 2 assists.
