Whitby Wolves Midget BB Wins Gold
The Whitby Wolves Midget BB girls defeated the Georgina Golden Hawks in a hard fought battle at the Rickard's Centre on Sunday afternoon. The Wolves beat Georgina 4 to 3 in Whitby's first tournament of the season. Coach Greg Wight said, "the girls showed perseverance and tenacity". Assistance Coach Rob Lucas agreed with Coach Wight but added the girls played with heart.
Whitby started the scoring in the first and didn't look back. Goals were scored by Averi Wilton, Ariel Bank Gillis, Hannah Jamieson and Riley Andrews. Jamieson's goal was a blister from the point. Team Captain Sydney Hoerig chalked the win to great team work, passing and communication. Hoerig said the team has their sights set on the gold in Rochester.
The Clarington Applefest Tournament was the first of four tournaments for the the Midget BB's. Rochester Fire on Ice takes place in November.
