2022 Ontario Provincials
U18AA Provincial Silver Medalists!
The U18AA Whitby wolves started out their provincials strong with and opening game win against the Barrie Sharks 5-0. They kept this momentum through the round robin winning all three games and finishing first overall and receiving a bye to the quarter finals.
In the quarter’s vs Sudbury, they scored two late third period goals to secure the victory 3-2 and advance to the semis.
In the semis, they faced off against the Kitchener Lady Rangers, a team they faced earlier in the season which ended in a 2-2 draw. After a hard-fought game, it finished 1-1 in regulation and headed to overtime. At 3:53 of OT Rylan Haslam netted a beautiful goal in the top corner to secure their place in the Gold Medal Game.
In the Gold Medal game, they faced their cross-town rivals Durham West, which they battled all year long in league play. But it was not to be and after a valiant effort put forth by the girls, they fell short 3-1 after the final buzzer.
It was a great tournament by the U18AA Whitby Wolves capturing the silver medal at the 2022 Ontario Provincials.
