April 22 - House League Update Message
Submitted By Rob MacDonald on Thursday, April 22, 2021
Message to all House League Members

This has been a difficult season for all of us.  The restrictions have forced us to cancel games since the end of November, and limit practices to just 10 people.  Based on the feedback we received from the players and parents across our house league divisions, we feel we did the right thing by offering as much ice as possible to our teams during the months of December and March when we were not in complete lockdown.

The WGHA did continue to incur costs to operate the league even in reduced capacity, specifically:

- Ice costs, which were not discounted, even though they were run at a capacity of 10 players and 2 coaches instead of this year's limit of 24 players and 6 coaches, and our normal capacity of 2 full teams.

- Fixed per-player costs, which include jerseys, insurance and general administrative costs.

The executive looked at several options including discounts or credits for next season, but decided the best thing to do was to offer refunds to all of our players based on the ice consumed in their division, and the initial costs to play.

The WGHA will be processing the following refunds to players who have fully paid their fees.

U7 - $50 (Bringing their rate down to $400)

U9 to U15 - $100 (Bringing their rate down to $470)

U18 - $25 (Bringing their rate down to $375)

Goalies who have already received discounts will not receive an additional refund

We are hopeful that next season will be back to normal, or as close as possible, and that everyone will return.  We will continue to welcome all new players to the league.
