Return to the Rink Update
As we return to the rinks on January 3, 2022 we are providing some reminders for all of our players, parents and volunteers.

Town of Whitby

Effective Monday, December 20, as required by the Province of Ontario, all patrons 12 years and older must be fully vaccinated, meaning they must have both doses of a two-dose vaccine plus 14 days and provide proof of vaccination along with identification on each visit to a Town recreation facility. This now includes youth actively participating in Town of Whitby registered programs and indoor organized sport (training, practices, games and competitions). Under the new regulations coaches, officials and team volunteers are now required to show proof of vaccination. The provincial policy does not apply to children 11 years old and younger (proof of ID showing name and age may be required).

Effective Tuesday, January 4, 2022, as required by the Province of Ontario, digital or printed QR codes will be required to enter Town facilities as part of Ontario’s Proof of Vaccination Policy.·

The Town of Whitby is not permitting food and drink in recreation facilities will be suspending concession and vending services until the Provincial restrictions are lifted. Visitors will not be permitted to consume food or drink (outside of water for players) inside recreation facilities to comply with Ontario's strengthening of masking.

OWHA Policy Update

On December 23, 2021 the OWHA published this bulletin outlining the new Provincial proof of vaccination requirements and guidance for participating in tournaments.

If you have any doubts about whether you should attend the rink due to an exposure or are feeling ill…please stay home.  There is a lot of hockey yet to be played this season.  Staying away will avoid the spread and may keep your team from having to isolate.

The WGHA paused activities to reduce the spread of Covid cases amongst our association and to allow everyone to enjoy the holiday season.  We are excited to resume activities with cautious optimism that we will be able to complete our season but to do so we will need everyone to be diligent in following the protocols.

Happy New Year from the WGHA Executive Board.
