UPDATE: TOWN OF WHITBY LABOUR DISRUPTION - TOWN FACILITIES CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
After numerous days of bargaining between the Town of Whitby & CUPE Local 53 FT,
it is confirmed that that CUPE Local 53 FT has gone on strike. All Town of Whitby arenas are now closed until further notice.
What does a strike mean for the WGHA?
Without access to the Town arenas, the WGHA is unable to run our House League or Development programs.
Representative practices and development are also affected.
In the short term where possible, games for our Representative Programming will be moved to local municipalities. Rep coaches will be contacted directly by WGHA and their team calendars will reflect game locations and time changes.
We appreciate that this will cause concern for the status of the ice season and facility permits. We will ensure to provide updates to our Community Sport Partners as they come as they become available.
To stay up to date please visit Whitby.ca/news and wgha.org websites before heading back to the rink.
