Whitby Peewee HL Team Wins Silver
Submitted By Craig Vallbacka on Tuesday, November 27, 2018
The Durham West House League Tournament was well represented by Whitby Lightning, Whitby Ice Warriors and the Whitby Vipers in the Peewee division on the weekend of November 23-25.

There were 10 peewee teams from various leagues such as Whitby, Leaside, Oshawa, Nepean, Kingston and Haldimand who entered the tournament.

The Whitby Vipers and the Whitby Ice Warriors were two of the four teams who played their way into the semi finals. During the semi finals, a fierce battle between the Vipers and the Ice Warriors resulted in the game ending at a 2-2 tie and forced the game into over time for one period of 4 on 4.

At the end of the overtime period, the teams were stilled tied 2-2 which forced a shootout. Both teams goalies were outstanding. After the shootout, The Vipers advanced to play in the finals on Sunday. The Whitby Vipers played Leaside on Sunday and after a hard fought game, Whitby brought home the silver medal!

Congratulations to all of the Whitby teams and all of the girls in the peewee division for a great weekend. You made Whitby proud!
