The
U15B team headed North this weekend to participate in the 25th Annual North Bay
Jr Lakers Hockey Tournament.
Our
Wolves rose to the challenge by playing up a division, taking on tougher
competition at the U15BB level. The round robin games were filled with
intensity from start to finish, as the teams traded goals and defensive stops!
Off
the ice, the players were able to watch an exciting OUA Nipissing Lakers team
take on the Western Mustangs on Friday night. It was great to see the home team
take the win! Team bowling and a visit with Santa were also highlights of the
weekend.
After
a third place finish in the round robin, the players were ready to play in the
semi finals vs the home team, North Bay. Our Wolves fought hard and kept up the
pressure, maintaining a one goal lead for most of the game. As the clock ticked
down in the final period, it looked like victory was within reach. However, in
a heart-stopping play, the opposing team managed to score with 36 seconds left,
forcing the game into overtime.
Despite
the setback, the team regrouped with determination and energy as they entered
the overtime period for some 3 on 3 action. In the end, the Wolves scored
within the first 30 seconds of play, securing a trip the finals!!
While
the final game was not the result the players were working for, this tournament
truly showcased the resilience and skill of each player. The Wolves
demonstrated their capability and heart by stepping up to this challenge and
delivering an unforgettable performance and truly coming together as a team!
Go
Wolves!!
